ABSTRACT The study was carried out on how social media has enhanced the image of refugees, case study Kampala, Uganda. The purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between social media and the refugees in Uganda particularly in Kampala District. The Research objectives were, to investigate the use of social media to the refugees, to know the age of refugees who use social media to communicate and to examine social media reports and how they affect the refugees. To know how social Media has helped refugees to blend in the host communities The questionnaires and interviews were the main research instrument to collect information from the respondents, this aimed at collecting information of demographic characteristics The study recommended that the Government to encourage innovations that engage the refugees in order to increase communication via social media platforms, verbal communication and sharing of knowledge between refugees and the citizens. By doing SQ, there will be a mutual understanding of each other’s needs and there will be more productivity in the country and this will help to keep a good image of refugees. The study concluded that the overall effect of social Media on the Image of refugees has been favorable to the refugees in Uganda as compared to other countries. They have been given freedoms of Expression, Freedom of owning property and many other freedoms according to the government.
